Krannert Art Museum Programs, Art Acquisition and Art Restoration Fund: Urbana-Champaign


An endowment fund will allow Krannert Art Museum to increase the number of exhibitions that are created and sent to major museums; purchase significant works of art to enhance the permanent collection and raise the profile of the Museum; and preserve and protect the art in the permanent collection.

Krannert Center's premier-status physical capacity as classroom, laboratory and public square will be enhanced and extended. Reimagining, retooling and revitalizing of the Center's physical environment will grow the effectiveness and success of the academic programs-in-residence at the Center and will support critical research initiatives in the creation of new work as well as cross-campus, multi-domain collaborations and will serve as core tools for excellence in education, research and creativity.

Through a rich framework of deeply linked, cross-domain dialogues, the student experience will be opened more robustly to the ideas that surround art, including reflections upon the past and imaginings of the future. It will give students a more meaningful understanding of the relationship between art and society, enabling them to more fully achieve excellence in their career paths and leadership roles in society.

Through a richness of offerings and ease of access to those offerings, Krannert Center will blend public programming and enhancement activities to even more powerfully serve students, together with their faculty and mentors, as a gathering place for the exchange of diverse ideas, perspectives and experiences, helping to negotiate major societal divides - cultural, class-based, religious, political and generational, among others - to prepare our students for leadership in the personal, professional and civic arenas of our increasingly complex global culture.
