Advancing the Creation and Dissemination of Knowledge: Chicago

UIC will add to and enrich the body of human knowledge through original research. Funds will support the research projects that faculty and graduate students pursue, as well as endowed chairs, professorships and interdisciplinary research centers. Also, infrastructure improvements will give researchers an empowering environment in which to do their best work.

Enrich the Student Experience: Chicago

UIC will create optimal surroundings within which students and faculty can live and learn. Building more comfortable and state-of-the-art spaces for all who use them will help attract the brightest and most ambitious students. In addition to the continued transformation of campus, UIC will invest in the expansion of numerous cultural and athletic outlets. These efforts will result in an ever-more vibrant and productive community to populate UIC's classrooms, laboratories and gathering spaces.

Leveraging Leadership for Great Cities: Chicago

As the greater economic and social opportunities of cities cause the swell of urban populations around the world, UIC will help identify, address and answer the challenges they face. Strengthening existing and building new national and international partnerships and programs through the Great Cities Commitment will positively affect areas such as public health, education, transportation, economics and the arts. Support for this priority will enhance UIC's ability to provide public policy programs to government agencies; collaborate with private-sector partners, civic and cultural institutions, leading non-profit agencies and community groups; and connect UIC to international cities.

Promoting Healthy Societies: Chicago

UIC will make a direct and visible impact on the health and well-being of societies in Chicago, throughout Illinois and around the world. The impact of this work will be seen in increased patient access, the leveling of health disparities and an establishment of leadership in urban and rural health. Funding will support expanded and enhanced education programs for healthcare professionals; state-of-the-art medical spaces and services; and better disease prevention, health promotion, patient care, education and research. Also promoting healthy societies is UIC's ground-breaking research, particularly in the College of Medicine's established strengths, including: cancer; cardiovascular science; the neurosciences; transplantation; and women's health.
