Undergraduate Research: Springfield

By engaging in a project of original scholarship, research or creativity, students apply classroom knowledge to real world situations and develop critical thinking and communication skills, necessary for them to be engaged citizens and have successful careers in the 21st century. At UIS, faculty work closely with students on these projects, fulfilling the promise of “faculty who know you,” giving students confidence and often helping them to continue their education through to graduation. Your gift to undergraduate research will contribute to the academic excellence students find at UIS.

Uni High Faculty Support: Urbana-Champaign

Faculty support for Uni High teachers needs to be increased in order to keep the school competitive and attract and retain the best and brightest teachers for students.

Uni High Gifted Education Development Fund: Urbana-Champaign

Support is needed to enable Uni High to become a nationally recognized center for gifted adolescent studies.

Uni High Innovative Program Support: Urbana-Champaign

Program support will help enhance and expand innovative curricular programs and initiatives.

Uni High Named Department Chair: Urbana-Champaign

Funds are needed to recruit excellent faculty to University High School in order to further the excellence in the education of academically talented high school students.

University Library Collections: Urbana-Champaign

To promote academic excellence by providing access to high-quality collections through acquisitions (new collections and additions to existing holdings), preservation and digitization.

University Library Facilities: Urbana-Champaign

To provide state-of-the-art library facilities that: (1) facilitate teaching, research and learning; (2) attract faculty and other scholars; (3) better serve campus departments and units; (4) offer comfortable spaces for students to work individually or collaborate in groups; and (5) provide a proper, controlled environment for valuable library collections and materials.

University Library Faculty Support: Urbana-Champaign

To build on the Library and University’s strengths in research and innovation by recruiting and retaining high-caliber faculty via named professorships and chairs and support for enhanced learning: instructional librarians, development of learning commons, etc.

University Library Leadership Program Support: Urbana-Champaign

To train international librarians and support education through cutting-edge library technology, such as digitization of and online access to materials.

Unrestricted Funds: Springfield

When you make an unrestricted gift, you are giving without any limitations or expectations on how the gift will be used. An unrestricted gift allows the University to act with maximum operational and intellectual flexibility, making it one of the most powerful the University receives. Please consider making all or a portion of your gift unrestricted to help the University meet unexpected needs and opportunities as they arise. You may allocate your unrestricted gift to the UIS Fund, or to a specific college, department or unit that you’d like to support.
