CASE V Award Winners Announced; List Includes Three from the University of Illinois System

CASE District V annually recognizes excellence in the district. The organization recently announced 2019 awards which includes several honorees from within the University of Illinois System.

Caryn Schultz Korman, associate vice chancellor for alumni relations at the University of Illinois at Chicago and the executive director of the UIC Alumni Association, has been named the recipient of The Mike Ziemianski Distinguished Service Award. This award was established in 1980 to recognize an advancement professional who has given outstanding service to the district. Schultz Korman has held numerous leadership positions within CASE District V, including chair of the Board of Directors from 2014-16 and treasurer from 2007-11. She began her volunteer service with CASE V in 2002 on the conference planning committee and has given numerous presentations throughout the years at CASE V conferences. Read more here.

The Pride of District V Awards showcase the best practices in alumni relations, fundraising, advancement services, special events, and communications. This year’s list includes STORIED: Chicago from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and the UIDEA team MatchMaker.

STORIED: Chicago won a CASE Gold Award for Best Specialized or Unit-Level Magazine. This publication, produced by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Institutional Advancement at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, shares stories specifically related to Illinois’ impact on the city. The Storied team includes Kim Schmidt, Abigail Bobrow, Joseph Brumleve, and Katie Miller.

MatchMaker was honored with a CASE Platinum level award for Best Practices in Advancement Services. MatchMaker uses an algorithm to discover untapped potential for alumni award nominees and other constituent engagement. Think of it like match.com but for advancement recognition and engagement. Erin Kirby, David Bambrey, and Sam Hendon all represent Illinois on the team and partnered with Tanweer Alam, Dan Biggs, Shweta Jayaram, Deepthi Kandukuri, Naresh Kulkarni, and Varun Vattikonda from the University of Illinois Foundation.
