University of Illinois alumnus and philanthropist Ron Filler (‘70 LAS) will be inducted into the Futures Industry Association Hall of Fame next month at the organization’s 2022 conference in Florida. The FIA Hall of Fame recognizes individuals who have made a significant contribution to the futures, options and centrally cleared derivatives markets.

Filler and his wife, Paula, have supported a variety of interests at the University of Illinois for more than 40 years, including several named undergraduate scholarships, the Division of Intercollegiate Athletics and University Bands. He has also devoted numerous hours to mentoring Illinois students.

After graduating from UIUC in political science, Filler earned two law degrees. He worked for many years in the financial sector before retiring as professor emeritus from the New York Law School in 2020 following 12 years as a faculty member. The Ronald H. Filler Institute for Financial Services Law at NYLS is named in his honor.
