$2 million gift from UIF Board Life Director and his wife benefits Carle Illinois College of Medicine

Two‑time University of Illinois Urbana‑Champaign alums Dave Downey and Jane Hays, longtime University of Illinois donors, have generously contributed $2 million to the Carle Illinois College of Medicine (CICOM) to support a professorship and scholarships in the first‑of‑its‑kind college. The couple has been investing in CICOM since its beginning in 2015.
Downey and his wife Jane Hays have been deeply involved in the Champaign‑Urbana, Carle Health, and University of Illinois communities for years. The couple previously gifted the college $1m for the Phyllis M. Wise Center for Student Excellence Fund, supporting student affairs programming.
