UIS Recognizes Alumnus W. Robert Felker '74) with an Honorary Doctorate

The University of Illinois Springfield proudly recognized distinguished alumnus W. Robert Felker, '74 CPAE,  with an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters during the Spring 2026 commencement ceremony, an honor reflecting both his remarkable professional achievements and his enduring commitment to UIS.

Felker has remained deeply connected to his alma mater for decades. He has served on the University of Illinois Foundation Board of Directors and has been a steadfast advocate for UIS, earning the Alumni Achievement Award and the William E. Winter Award for Outstanding Advocate Leadership. His generosity, alongside his wife Patty, also established a scholarship that continues to support high‑achieving UIS students.

Felker’s career in finance is equally impressive. As founder of First Chicago Futures, he helped build a firm that ultimately became part of J.P. Morgan, where he later served as chairman of J.P. Morgan Futures Inc. His leadership shaped the futures industry, earning him induction into the Futures Industry Association Hall of Fame.

Felker’s legacy is a powerful reminder of the lasting impact of alumni leadership, philanthropy, and dedication to student success.
